Chardonnay’s Creepy Crawly – R*n 1458

Turning up to Mortica’s abode in Mirramar Park, Blackpersons Bay with 5 minutes to spare with the traffic thru the Brooker Ave/Davys St going at a snails pace and parking near Mortica’s hard to find. Not much time to catch up with Dyke and talk about venues for the up and coming Chardonnay Highland Fling, put that off till after the run. Been a while since hashers have been down Blackpersons Bay with Griz and L.A moving to Upper Gagebrook and Red Dress setting mainly winter runs from a pub in the city.

Well back to the run 6.31 was called and run instructions given out with Snacky remarking “be no checks or F.Ts with Mortica setting it”. As a rule when a walker sets a trail usually there is a absence of checks/F.Ts and imagination but to the front runners Red Dress, Maximus and myself there was well set F.Ts and checks to keep us guessing where the trail went. The hashers went past the past residences of Hands on B.H.Bs and Griz and L.A and close to R.D, Maxi and myself detouring to Red Dress’s home for a coldie or Red Dress’s mom and dad’s place and hit the wine cellar. The run ended taking in views of the coast and Blackpersons Bay beach before going back to Mortica’s palace for the promised P.S.

There was the usual short cutting Bast#rds, walk to the corner and back hashers already into the beers, champers, softies, chips and lollies. The run was just over 9 ks with the walkers/short runners coming in on a long 7.5 ks with a search party lead by Griz in his new hybrid Rav4 replacing his TARDIS to pick up Spoof and ClearFell. Spoof had gone hashing looking for the promised P.S, if only he had noticed the Hash markings opposite Mortica’s with arrows and P.S pointing across the road LOL.

Finally before the food was brought out Dyke and myself found a quiet corner to go over plans for the Highland Fling. As the newish J.Ms Dyke and I have discussed bringing the struggling Chardonnay into a NEW ERA and maybe changing the weekend of the Fling. As other hashers have wondered maybe the Fling can be on a ordinary weekend in June/July because all hashers head home Sunday after the Fling, so allowing the Kings Birthday weekend be spent on your own holiday/travel. Also going to the highlands/lake areas are getting harder and more expensive with venues hard to move on ‘cheaper’ room prices, so lowland Flings more likely.

Finally with all hashers back from their long treks Mortica and helpers brought out the food, plates and cutlery. There was a great array of mince and vegetarian lasagna, chicken drumsticks, bread rolls and salad with a choc fudge bar for desserts. The lips got their act together poured the scull cups and got the lip session under way with the temperature dropping to sub Antarctic temperatures.

All up a good night, great runner’s trail set, maybe a slightly long walker’s trail but they knew where to hash back to, great food prepared by Mortica and a lively lip session with Nancy Boy and Spoofo.

• Morticia – being a bit concerned about a few Hashers not understanding the difference between a red, green and yellow bin, she stuck post it notes to everything to explain. The only problem is that we are an illiterate bunch, and no one took any notice.
• Morticia – beautified her place by getting someone in to cut her grass but forgot the low hanging cobwebs on the clothesline.
• Prickit and Sonar – Sonar was nowhere to be found so Prickit was put to work as emergency Hash Cash.
• Sonar – for pulling a Snack Bar and not turning up for Hash Cash duties.
• LA – has f*ck all to do all day now that Griz has a new car. LA is not allowed to clean it in case she damages the paintwork.
• Griz – Ted christened his new car by p*ssing on the tyres – now the chrome on the alloys is peeling off.
• Jack Shit – got himself a stalking app so that he knows where Herr Flick is at all times.
• Clearfell and Brazilian – for something about getting up and getting out of a thunderstorm on the beach.
• Prickit – retiring but might decide to go back to work after spending a week with C#n’t Stop.
• Clearfell, Top Dek and Spoof – for taking the longest short-cut in Hash history and turning a 6.5km walk into 7.5km.
• Dyke and Pole Dancer: For f*ck all information about the Fling because it appears there is f*ck all happening.
