Chardonnay’s Dutch Oven Trail

With rain, sleet, wind and a temperature of what seemed about 2 degrees it was without doubt one of the worst Hash nights I can remember.

Congratulations to the twenty-odd Hashers that braved the harsh conditions. We are either mad or just keen athletes.

The waves on the Derwent must have been extremely high, as the Eastern Shore Shack Owners failed to make the crossing.

The Hare, Dyke, apparently set a good trail. I would have liked to follow the trail, but like many others, including a large group who just walked down one side of the main road in Moonah crossed over and back the other side. All under cover of course.

Once back at Cooleys it was decided to stay inside and not go out to the beer garden. An extremely wise move. Even better for the fantastic Lip session, where we were herded into an enclosed alcove in the main dining room, so that the punters still there could not hear us.

Many of us ordered the seniors meal; good value for 2 courses at $22. However one Hasher never received their meal and after negotiations they were offered a take away meal.

Well done to Dyke, who persisted marking trail even in the harshest of conditions.

• Dyke: Hare. No one could find trail yet it still wasn’t the worst trail he’d ever set. 
• Can’t Stop: head job in preparation for his overseas trip.
• Nancy Boy, Gingernuts, Nancy Boy, Grassroots, Ninja Nuisance: can’t remembers.
• Growler: elder abuse. Conscripted geriatric labour to move couch and wardrobe while Growler and Cumonion stood by supervising.
• Nancy Boy: on a strict diet, but skipped the salad option tonight. When the Platypussy is away…
• Can’t Stop and Prickit: far cough yak hunts.
• Can’t Stop: headed to the Ukraine front line.
• Snack Bar: putting on a breakfast Sunday morning. Waited until Prickit and his good mate Can’t Stop are away.
• Snack Bar: missed out on ordering a seniors meal.
• Dyke & Spoof: cleaned up the leftover chips from the plates of a (non-Hash) group that had just vacated.
• Milestone:
  Spoof – 900 Runs.

Join us for a fantastic evening of friendship, laughter, great food and a little bit of Hash tradition as we gather for the Chardy Burning.

We’ll be warming up around the fire pots with one very special fire featuring a wooden C. If you would like to write down a fear, worry or something you would like to leave behind you can place it in the C and watch it burn away. It’s a symbolic way to let go and embrace new adventures!

To keep everyone well fed we will be serving hearty homemade soup and fresh rolls and plenty of scrumptious food after the run.

So rug up, bring your best sense of humour and join us for an evening of good company, crackling fires, delicious food and a memorable Chardy Burning.
